When I was little, my favorite part of Christmas morning was opening my Stocking. I had more fun opening my stocking gifts then opening the bigger items under the tree. My husband and I have kept the tradition of stockings with our own children. Each year we fill them with inexpensive items that vary from things that are practical and needed to just for fun trinkets. In case you are stuck with what to put in your child's stocking this year, here's some ideas of what our family has done:
*Bubble Bath *Socks *Undies *Tooth Brushes *Lip Balm
Candy/Snacks:
*Candy Canes *Fruit Snacks *Yogurt Covered Raisins *Life Saver's Candy Books
Just for Fun:
*Bracelets *Matchbox Cars *Thomas Trains *Playmobil Toys *Children's Wallet
*Play-Doh *Pez Dispensers *Slinky *Small Dolls
*View Master Reels *Magazines (i.e. Dog Magazines, Highlights, ect.)
*Puzzle Books *New Jammies *Dress-Up Clothes *Glow Sticks
*Color Changing Markers *Glitter Crayons *Sketch Book *Stickers
*Mad Libs Junior *Travel Games
Have an stocking idea that your children have loved? Leave a comment and let me know!

I am putting a Buzz Lightyear Night Light in my sons stocking. He uses a normal Nightlight, but he will love the Buzz Lightyear one !
ReplyDeleteFor years, I have put a Beanie stuffed animal in the stockings. It looked cute with its head hanging out of the top of it. Small Beanie Babies used to cost $6 and I have three children, so it wasn't the cheapest of gifts - but they loved wondering what animal they would get.
ReplyDeleteThis year will be the first in about 5 years that they will not get one. We have too many around the house, and the cost of those things are higher.
Thanks for all of your sugggestions - because I need it. Gotta get a few small items for them. :)
Thanks for the suggestions! Last year Maddy was only 3 weeks old so we didn't put much in her stocking. This year we were trying to figure out what to give her so you were a big help! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe do small items in the boys stockings too. I always do toothbrushes, mouthwash, chapstick & body spray. Then just random small things.
ReplyDeleteMy little girls LOVE getting nail polishes and fun girly fashion jewelry! I put a fun loofah in each stocking this year.
ReplyDeleteI found tons of these kinds of items in the dollar bins at Target today! I know my girls will have so much fun with it all. It's great to create a tradition with stockings...as a kid (and still) my mom put a quarter, a walnut and an orange in our stockings. I don't even remember why...but at 32, I'll be looking for those items on christmas!
ReplyDeleteHow nice!!!!! All of your comments!! I'm from Argentina. We don't have that kind of tradition. We do put all kinds of gifts under the tree, but the idea of the stocking (of course I knew about that before but nobody does it here)is really nice. It's more personal and intimate than a toy and all the packaging kids usually get. I'm gonna try this.....I'll sew two myself and put some fun stuff for Juliana and Joaquin!! Thanks!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love doing the stockings. I put little fun things in them plus candy and try to include some cash in there too-they love that.
ReplyDeleteStockings are so much fun. We've just recently had bad news from the dentist, so I'm opting out of putting candy in my girls' stockings like I usually do. I think I'll put dental floss instead, no kidding! Their dad hands it out to all of them (including our three year old) each night as they're brushing their teeth. He can never find it and is always asking me where it is!
ReplyDeleteI just love your blog. You are such a blessing to many.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Merry Christmas my friend.
Great ideas, I wish I had looked at this *before* tonight. ;) Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas!
